CEU Session Guide & Updates

Continuing Education Credits Approval Information
Aging Services of Minnesota Institute February 8 - 11, 2012

Use this guide to determine which sessions are approved by your professional certification or licensure board. The process is simple: (1) Keep track of the sessions you attend on the scorecard, and take it home with your program materials. (2) Log onto www.agingservicesmn.org and record your session attendance on an easy-to-use online form. Then simply print your personalized CEU certificate from your computer! (Complete instructions are on the scorecard.) Please complete your CEU application process by March 16, 2012.

SPECIAL NOTE: Activity professionals and Dietary Managers have special requirements to fulfill. Please read this sheet carefully for further information.

MINNESOTA LICENSURE BOARDS
Minnesota Board of Nursing
The Institute has been designed to meet the Minnesota Board of Nursing continuing education requirements for licensure.

  • Maximum number of hours including the pre-Institute intensive sessions on 2/7, general and concurrent sessions = 19.8 contact hours.
  • Maximum number of hours excluding the pre-Institute intensive sessions on 2/7 = 15 contact hours.
  • The Leadership Intensive session times (2/9) are included in the maximum number contact hours that can be earned

Minnesota Board of Nursing Home Administrators
The Minnesota Board of Examiners for Nursing Home Administrators has approved a maximum of 16.5 clock hours for the Institute’s educational programming.

  • Maximum number of hours including the pre-Institute intensive sessions on 2/7, general and concurrent sessions = 16.5 clock hours.
  • Maximum number of hours excluding the pre-Institute intensive sessions on 2/7 = 12.5 clock hours.
  • The Leadership Intensive (2/9) sessions times are included in the maximum number clock hours that can be earned.

Minnesota Board of Social Work
Aging Services of Minnesota is an approved Continuing Education Sponsor by the Minnesota Board of Social Work. The following programs have been designed to meet the continuing education criteria for licensed social workers in Minnesota. ** There will be a notebook on-site that you are required to sign before you leave the event to document the total number of General Education programs and Food Show hours you attended at the Institute. You must sign separately for the Pre-Institute Intensive Session B (available for signatures from 4:45 – 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8th) and at the end of each day for each day's programs and exhibit time. The notebook will also be on the CEU table for the rest of the Institute.

National Certification Council for Activity Professionals
The National Certification Council for Activity Professionals has approved a maximum of 16 clock hours for the Institute’s educational programming.

When you enter your sessions for CEU credit on www.agingservicesmn.org after the Institute, download and print the Activities Worksheet for NCCAP approved programs. Complete this worksheet and keep it with your certificate until it is time to renew certification with NCCAP when you will need to send both documents in to that office. Credits are awarded only for the sessions listed as approved.

Retirement Housing Professionals
Individuals who need elective credits for the National Certification Program for Retirement Housing Professionals through LeadingAge are responsible for determining whether a continuing education activity meets the criteria for elective credits.

Certificates of Attendance for Other Professionals
Most licensure boards, credentialing agencies and professional organizations have processes that allow individuals to earn a certain number of CEUs for non-pre-approved programs and/or accommodate self-submission for approval of continuing education hours after the event takes place with proper documentation from the program sponsors. Most also require information Aging Services of Minnesota already and routinely collects like the title of the course, learning objectives, dates and times of presentations, agendas, faculty bios, number of hours earned, etc. If you require information for this purpose, please contact Heidi Simpson.
